The Asian American Artists Society is hosting its first juried exhibition. Theme of this juried exhibition is Eastern Cultures, and WeiXin Xu is the jury of the show. WeiXin Xu is a professor of painting and the former executive dean of the School of Arts, Renmin University, Beijing, and artist focus on historic events and contemporary social issues. Share your unique vision and reveal the layers of Eastern cultures inside the Sewell Mill Library & Cultural Center. It is specifically devoted to Asian Arts and cultures. We encourage artists to submit artworks, including Eastern elements, cultures, and/or techniques. We are dedicated to passing the uniqueness, diversity, and professionalism to the public.

Artist Eligibility
For this entry, artist must be fulfill the following requirement:
1. Artists must be 18 above.
2. Artists must complete the entry application and complete either $50 membership or $30 entry fee per entry. All artists are allowed to submit up to three (3) pieces. Membership and entry fees are nonrefundable whether they are juried into the show or not.
Artwork requirements:
Entries must be original, 2-dimensional, or 3 -dimensional fine art. Photography and digital art in print are prohibited. Entrants may submit up to three (3) entries. No nudes, political or controversial. 2D size limitation including frames: Minimum of at least 10”, and may not exceed 40” in either width, height, and/or depth. If it is 3D may not exceed 30” in either width, height, and/or depth. All paintings must be ready for hanging with wire in place, in an appropriate gallery frame or gallery-wrapped canvas. No sawtooth hangers will be accepted. There is no limit on when an artwork was created. Works submitted to any AAArtistisSociety show must be displayed for the duration of the show, including no substitute and no early removal. Please inform your client of the dates on which the borrowed work will be viewed. Any artist who is unable to provide a painting that has been juried into a show will be penalized for not being able to enter the next exhibition.
Jurors, jury, & awards:
The artwork selected for the exhibition will be based on a criteria of theme or medium by the jury. Along with the criteria, the jurors look for originality, unique, technical skills and quality of work. All accepted work will be displayed with the artist name, title of work, and website/ social media. Artists and artworks that are selected for 1st, 2nd, 3rd jury’s choice and People’s choice will receive an award certificate, as well as will be displayed with an article about the artist and their work on Asian American Artists Society’s website. Depending on the number and quality of all submissions received, additional awards may also be presented.
PLEASE NOTE: The Asian American Artists Society exhibition committee and jury reserves the right to decline artworks that do not fall within the exhibition requirements, or are deemed inappropriate viewing for children. Entries that do not adhere to the guidelines will not be judged. For delivery, any work that varies from the submitted images will be disqualified.
Shipping & Insurance:
Shipping and insurance are the sole responsibility of the artist. AAArtistisSociety does not provide additional shipping and insurance and is not responsible for possible loss or damage to works. By entering, artists agree to not hold AAArtistisSociety and Sewell Mill Library & Cultural Center liable for any loss or damage.
Sales:
The Artist shall directly handle any sale (“Sale”) of Artwork from the Show. Works do not have to be for sale. Your price, or Not for Sale (NFS), must be indicated on your entry. If sales occur, Sewell Mill Library & Cultural Center then requires the individual artist to become a vendor with Sewell Mill Library & Cultural Center. The process for payment takes 6-8 weeks after the closing of the exhibit. There is a 70/25/5 split in sales, with 70% going to the artists, 25% going to Sewell Mill Library & Cultural Center, and 5 % going to Asian American Artists Society.
Rights:
AAArtistisSociety and Sewell Mill Library & Cultural Center reserve the right to photograph and retain images of the exhibit solely for educational, promotional, and documentation purposes in print or on the Internet. By entering the exhibition, you agree to all conditions herein.
